About
Crabb is a private detective (and ex-cop) from an alternate history version of Earth in 1918, who also just so happens to be part of a vigilante operation known as the Lavender League. She's spent the past four-to-five years or so as part of this growing group of people who don't quite fit into their designated places in society and who have a lot to say about the state of society as a whole, trying their best to get rid of the corrupt powers controlling their home.
Here on the ship, she's... a little lost. She's trying to put her skills to good use with the dilemmas and mysteries they're facing, but she's struggling to figure out exactly how to do so when she doesn't understand all this magic stuff and is generally totally out of her depth.

Personality
Crabb is clever, inquisitive and stubborn as a horse with the willingness to kick things just as hard as one, too. She spent a lot of her life suppressing a lot of her more curious nature, and the part of her that questioned the status quo, but since meeting Lavender Jack and joining the league she has become an outspoken voice against corruption, rich folks who don't spread their money around, and for the disenfranchised.
She comes across as blunt, grumpy and doesn't take crap from anyone, but she's got a solid head on her shoulders and a strong heart beating in her chest. Her impulsivity is driven by her inability to sit back and do nothing. Her stubbornness is less pride, more determination. She has strong principles and won't back down from them no matter how hard someone pushes. She isn't always great with people, but she still believes in the potential good of those around her until they give her immediately relevant reason not to.
Her most defining trait is her desire to know any and all information about a mystery, story or so on that she can get her hands on, whether she's going to like that information or not. She may know that asking for someone to tell her something is going against her better judgement, but that better judgement literally never wins. She has to know.

Appearance
5'6" black woman with dark brown, afro hair that's kept relatively short and with a fade. Her features are all fairly soft in a rounded sort of way, but she's very expressive and that scrunches her face up into some amusing expressions on the regular. There's a notable scar on her forehead that goes up into her hairline, and another across the bridge of her nose.
She's a fairly stocky woman, with practical muscle that isn't immediately obvious when she's dressed in the full-coverage clothes she favours. The way she puts herself forward to the world is very much Butch, especially now she's been given the term and feels like she can make use of men's clothes; she favours plain or plaid button-downs, practical pants, sturdy boots, suspenders, gloves, ties and jackets that disrupt her silhouette.

History
Crabb was born in 1885 in the city state of Gallery to Paulo and Christine Crabb, a labourer (and later veteran of the Platinum Wars) and a cleaner at one of Gallery's high-end apartment buildings. Her family lived a very modest life and she was raised with mostly good principles to be a woman of her word and a hard worker, but also with all the religious and cultural baggage that comes with being a working class Catholic woman in the early-20th century. She was never able to quite master 'ladylike', put up with her skirts and dresses only begrudgingly, and though her bisexuality wasn't an issue in this alt-history she still didn't find a marriage as quickly as her family would probably like.
By 31 she had been working as a police officer for 12 years, a little over four of which she'd been in charge of leading other officers after a rapid promotion thanks to saving the Mayor at the time from an assassination attempt. Her life was essentially normal until Lavender Jack emerged and started making her job difficult, attacking the homes of influential members of high society and spilling their dirty secrets. Crabb was far too willing to defend these people and that made her a poor fit for catching the guy, so it wasn't until the Mayor called in Madame Theresa Ferrier, a world-class detective, that they started to make headway. By the end of the investigation, however, they were focused less on arresting Lavender Jack (otherwise known as Sir Mimley Bastrop and Ducky Dececco) and more on stopping the very people that he was exposing from controlling Gallery with their greed and malice. They stopped Lady Hawthorne, killed Lord Hawthorne, and unfortunately left the equally corrupt Gall in power for the time being.
Ferrier left Gallery and Crabb behind with the assurance that Crabb would become a great detective, one day, and though Crabb initially resisted being pulled in too deep with Lavender Jack, it wasn't long before she was the third piece of the puzzle that made him work. During this time, a new villain emerged: the mysterious Black Note, who had all of Lavender Jack's dramatics but none of his morals. They dedicated themselves to stopping this menace, who keeps killing anyone he thinks he has to on the way to tearing Gallery to the ground to rebuild, and spent almost a year chasing his tail until they finally figure out who he is and what his final act will be. During this time, Crabb falls in love with a man called Tom Broadfoot who exists on the periphery of this case... until suddenly they find out he's not Tom at all and is, in fact, the Black Note, otherwise known as Tom's old friend Cecil Cragen and Gall's bastard son.
Crabb doesn't take that well, but they do, ultimately, stop the Black Note. Bastrop and Ducky are forced to leave the country, leaving the recently returned Ferrier, Crabb and their new ally Johnny Summer (another victim of the Black Note) to manage whilst they're away. Lavender Jack is gone. Gall is in power. A war erupts outside their borders that he wastes no time getting Gallery involved in. Lady Hawthorne is pulling the strings behind the scenes. Two years pass before news of Project Postscript, top-secret military advancement, gets out and Ferrier and Crabb (now running a detective agency out of Johnny's building) start chasing it down. Bastrop and Ducky return, now married but not for all the reasons you'd expect. Ferrier's mysterious adopted daughter is running around filling Lavender Jack's niche. Lord Hawthorne is somehow back from the dead... Crabb doesn't know where this mystery ends, but she's determined to find out. Of course, on the boat, she can't. Well, at least not unless she gets a random infusement of memories, but who knows if that'll happen?
