JOHNNY SUMMER
Dropping the formalities
Johnny's a member of the Lavender League, Crabb's landlord and, now, her absolute dearest friend. Being on the ship changed the context of their relationship and they've grown to be much closer than they were at home because of it. They've seen each other far more vulnerable than either is used to, talked more about their shared trauma with the Black Note, and are figuring out how to navigate the new world and culture they've found themselves in. Crabb trusts Johnny implicitly, with everything from her drinks to her problems to the things she's embarrassed about to watching her back. It's just the two of them from their world, after all. If they can't rely on each other, then what can they do? He's family, and she loves him in his own way.
ERIN PETERS
Why is it hot that she could kill me
Crabb loves Erin more than she even knows how to say. Things between them moved so much faster than she ever expected, but she can't imagine what her life on the boat would be like without her anymore—Hell, she doesn't even want to imagine. Erin is consistently there to support her, looking out for her even when Crabb isn't doing so great at looking out for herself, trying to boost her admittedly shaky self-esteem and encouraging her to be herself. The only thing Crabb wishes is that she could figure out how to do more to help Erin in return. She can't seem to get over the idea that she'll never be Good Enough, after everything she did, and that she has to go to extreme lengths to compensate, and it worries Crabb. But she'll stick by her, no matter what, and no version of her future feels complete without Erin in it.
JOHN WATSON
THE GOOD DOCTOR
Watson is one of the first people she met on board and one of Johnny's boys. Early on she made him a promise to watch out for both Johnny and César when he couldn't and she's took that to heart, but Watson himself is as much in the circle that she considers her people as they are, and thus as much under her personal purview of protection. She's intensely angry on his behalf that Daisy used her face to talk about vulnerable things with him entirely to keep up an act, more so than perhaps he is, and he's become one of the people she's told about Cragen as a result. ...it's still weirdly reassuring every time someone gets as angry at him as she does, the way Watson did.
César Salazar
Another mad scientist type
Why is Johnny's type mad science boys? Seriously? Anyway, César's a good guy. He's become her go-to for wrapping her head around all this new-fangled modern technology that's so unfamiliar to her, seeing as he's always been very helpful without making her feel stupid, even if he sometimes chooses to blow her mind a bit too much (moon landing on her first day, César please). She even has him to thank for some of the language Johnny's passed onto her since she arrived. He's an interesting bloke to talk to and she enjoys helping him out in turn, where she can, including trying to keep him on top of his self-defence skills. He is firmly one of her people just as much as his boys are.
MURDERBOT
Launching awkward.exe
Crabb doesn't know what to do half the time with Murderbot. It shot her during their Battle Royale and they've never quite gotten past the ripple effects. She carries around knowledge of it's name like a stone in her shoe that she couldn't shake if she tried, knowing it shared it with the intention of making her think of it a certain way that she still doesn't. Even now. Especially now. Murderbot is as traumatised as the rest of them, in ways Crabb can hardly even comprehend. Despite her constantly putting her foot in her mouth with it, she doesn't hold anything against it. She just doesn't know how to talk to it without fearing she'll cause additional harm, though she's made a promise to try and start over.
"PETER SMITH" (Prisoner 6)
Government work, huh
Crabb's impression of Smith has changed a lot over their time on the boat. From a decent first impression, to a wrench in the works in the form of old biases, to a mutual respect and finally a serious friendship that contains a fair amount of trust. They seem to hold similar opinions on working for your government and how they can screw you over, and he has a good head on his shoulders that's helped mediating some situations Crabb's honestly not sure she's equipped to handle on her own. He knows about Cragen and he's told her a little about the village, and they've taken their turns calling the other out on their internal hypocrisies when it comes to handling their own issues. They have both been shaken, but they haven't been broken. They just both need to remember to lean on others.
Cassandra De Rolo
Another not so insufferable aristocrat
Crabb first talked to Cassandra because Erin's sweet on her, too, and truth be told that's where a lot of their interaction has settled so far: around Erin. That Cassandra cares about her and won't let her throw herself to the wolves any more than Crabb will earns her good favour, but her impression of Cassandra outside of Erin is still a solid one. Her aristocratic flavouring shows but she's rating a lot closer to Bastrop and Johnny right now than the kinds of swells Crabb has it out for. They may not know a lot about each other's histories, yet, but Crabb's long since taken her into the circle of folks she considers hers to watch out for.
Daisy Tonner
Possession leaves a bad impression
Crabb and Daisy are not on speaking terms and never will be. Daisy was the ghost that ended up possessing Crabb's body for the majority of October, using tricks that Crabb abhors to keep up her act and trying to hurt her friends by the end of it. Now she's back, Crabb hasn't an ounce of good will to extend her. Erin seems to think there's something to her and, logically, Crabb knows that maybe she's right, but emotionally, she's just not capable of going there. So, the agreement is they don't bother each other. Daisy would probably kill her if she tried to fight her, anyway...
SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT
Bearer of double-edged knowledge
A fellow detective, Skulduggery has been a great person to bounce thoughts off about their situation and in general. Talking to him long enough tends to come with some sort of bomb drop that makes her regret who she is as a person, but she'll never actually stop asking him to tell her anyway, because of who she is as a person. She's not totally sure what to make of the relationship he has with the Captain, even outside of the strange sensation of having her own history reflected back at her face that it first brought up, but so long as his priorities seem to be on keeping everyone on the boat as close to safe and sane as reasonably possible for as long as possible... he's earned a fair amount of trust, and it hasn't actually gone away.
AVA STARR
What's a little murder between friends
So the first time they met Ava literally crushed her heart inside her chest, but Crabb's kind of not holding it against her. No one really won during the Battle Royale, and it was probably as quick of a death as she could hope for. Traumatising, but quick. They haven't talked that much since then, and Crabb was little worried that the whole mess with Erin was going to throw a wrench in the works, but they seem to still be able to get on alright. Even if they are two rather socially struggling people who don't always know how to hold a real conversation.
Valdis
First impressions aren't everything
Crabb still isn't always sure what to make of Valdis. Their first meeting was intensely awkward for Crabb and Valdis's love of prodding people still gets under her skin when it happens, but they seem to have come around to a friendship with a decent amount of mutual respect. Which is a good thing, considering how she seems to have become another of Erin's partners for real now. She does wish she was a little less inscrutable sometimes, but at least now she doesn't feel like Valdis is a total brick wall just messing with her for her own entertainment.
Ylva
Misfits ain't so bad
Crabb doesn't know her terribly well yet, but Ylva still seems like a sweet woman. Wolf. Both. They're both tired of people trying to make them live up to some standard of normal that neither really fits, in their own ways, and it's nice to know that someone only expects you to be yourself with no other baggage. Crabb would like to continue getting to know her better.
